Experience the Music is an easily understood approach to child wellness that lends itself with ease to preschool teachers, providing opportunities for optimal brain development in the early stages of a child’s life. This researched based innovative musical offering developed by Joyce Jordan and Joy Galliford is a literacy-based music curriculum for all children birth through six years of age. The program incorporates exciting music activities that engage children in singing, focused listening, movement and the playing of rhythm instruments. The curriculum, Experience the Music, is divided into four units of five-week lesson plans. Prior to each unit, teachers participate in a workshop to prepare them for the up-coming 5-week series of activities. During each unit, teachers can view the activities on line as Dr. Galliford demonstrates how to implement them in a real classroom setting.  Teachers can then implement the activities on a daily basis. This process continues throughout the 20 week curriculum. Parents are also involved in this curriculum project by receiving the Experience the Music parent CD and participating in a age appropriate weekly homework activity. Through Experience the Music, music becomes a regular part of a child’s life. Children can be tested at the beginning and end of the program to determine the growth in their motor, thinking, language, emotional-social and self-help skills.

Viewers will see that music experience has touched, and will continue to touch the lives of children, teachers and parents in a fun and musical way.  Through this musical adventure, children will be truly ready for school.
